Tampa Supplemental Security Income Lawyers

Compassionate SSI Attorney in Hillsborough County

Supplemental Security Income was designed to help people with serious physical or mental disabilities receive income for general provisions such as clothing, shelter, and food. This government program is provided for low-income individuals who are over a certain age, or adults and children who suffer from severe disabilities.

At our firm, we are proud to provide outstanding legal representation to clients, and we have a history of success because we work hard to ensure that each person's specific needs are fully met. We are aware that this time in your life can be confusing, and that the Social Security system can be daunting; however, with the guidance of our office, you could achieve a favorable resolution to your case without having to go through lengthy appeals.

If you are considering applying for SSI, contact Harris & Riviere today or call us at (813) 669-2080!

Who Is Eligible for These Benefits?

In order to be eligible for Supplemental Security Income, you must meet certain requirements. Not only must you be resident of one of the 50 states, but you must also fall under specific injury categories.

These include the following:

  • Age 65 or older
  • Suffer from blindness
  • Have a disability

In addition to that, you must have limited income and resources or else you will likely be considered ineligible for extra income. Defining a disability is probably the most challenging part. Unlike blindness, a general disability can be harder to identify and define. According to Social Security, a disability is any injury or disease that prevents an individual from doing substantially gainful activity (employment) and can be expected either to result in death or last at least a year.
